Spartan Games: Battle of the Fittest Twenty four elite athletes — OCR champions, Olympians, NFL pros, triathletes, world champion crossfitters and more — descend on the mountains of Vermont to compete for $100,000. Over four days, they battle in ten grueling physical and mental challenges: obstacle course races, open-water swim, mountain biking, Spartan highland games, functional fitness competitions, ultra marathon, combat sports and more. Every athlete will be tested. Every athlete will be ripped out of their comfort zone. But only one will be The Fittest.

The anticipation of meeting the competition is broken when the 24 elite Spartan Games Athletes arrive in Vermont. New friendships, and old rivalries, take root as the athletes size each other up and prepare for day one’s events. A thrown bucket becomes a powder keg during Spartan Cross, the athletes freeze in the open water swim, and torrential rain unloads during Spartan Highlands Games. Through the unpredictable conditions and the controversial twists, the Spartan Games Athletes do what they do best: compete at the highest level. DAY ONE EVENTS: - Spartan Cross: A new Spartan obstacle course event featuring 5k of running and 54 obstacles - XTERRA Open Water Swim: 45-minute open water swim on a 200m loop in near freezing water - Spartan Highland Games: Three events in one — single-elimination tug-of-war, Spartan Stones and Keiser Sled Challenge
With fallout from the bucket throw in the past and a new day of competition in the future, the Spartan Games athletes have one focus: earning points. The endurance specialists get a reality check during a functional fitness competition, different interpretations of “non-technical, rolling terrain” inject intensity into a five-hour mountain bike challenge, and everyone deals with the tolls of the aggressive event schedule. One thing remains clear: the Spartan Games Athletes will not hold back. DAY TWO EVENTS: - DEKA STRONG: 10 weighted functional fitness exercises, completed for time. - LA RUTA MOUNTAIN BIKE CHALLENGE: Five-hour mountain bike endurance race on a 9 mile, 1,537 ft elevation loop. Two lap minimum.
Episode 3: Body Slams, Broken Limits & Infinite Miles

Day 3 rolls into Riverside Farm with a wave of near-freezing temperatures and an ever-tightening competition for top of the table. It’s “break or be broken” today. Smaller athletes punch above their weight in Spartan Wrestling, over half of the field runs farther than they ever have before in the six-hour ultra trail marathon and everyone fights past their mental and physical limits. With only one more day of competition, anything’s possible. DAY THREE EVENTS: - SPARTAN WRESTLING: Ancient combat with modern warriors. Double elimination. - SPARTAN TRAIL ULTRA: Six-hour trail ultra marathon on a five-mile, 1,806 ft elevation loop. Three lap minimum.
Episode 4: Pouring Rain & Championship Reigns

In the season finale of Spartan Games, rain pours from the sky and two athletes begin their reign as Spartan Games Champions. Only a handful of points separate the leaders from the pack; and with three events on the final day of competition, anything is possible. The athletes are punished as they tear up the mountain donning weighted vests. DEKA makes a comeback, this time with deadlifts, pull ups and one-second victories. And Spartan Cross paves a path to victory for the fittest athletes on the planet. DAY FOUR EVENTS: - SPARTAN EXTREME ENDURANCE VERTICAL 300: One-mile, 300 vertical feet foot race up a mountain. Did we mention the mandatory weighted vests? - DEKA HEAVY: 10 weighted functional fitness exercises, completed for time. - SPARTAN CROSS 2.0: A new Spartan obstacle course event featuring 2.5k of running and 28 obstacles.
